Helpforce is a UK based volunteer group that aim to improve the lives of healthcare workers, those living in care and hospital patients. Backed by leading lights in the world of healthcare, they bring together innovative thinking and trusted experience to make community-integrated healthcare the norm across the UK.
Earlier this year, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Helpforce established Mealforce. Mealforce and its volunteers have helped to source and supply quality meals for care home residents, staff and hospital patients, offering valuable support whilst shop supplies were running low.
With visitation limited to homes across the UK, Helpforce also established Connectforce, to help keep those living in care connected to their loved ones. To do this, they donated digital tablets to homes across the UK, one being Excelcare’s very own Castlebar.
The most recent Excelcare home to receive support from Connectforce is Bromley-based care home, Park Avenue. Representatives from the group stopped by at the home this week to deliver two digital tablets for the residents. Although restrictions are beginning to ease, the people living at Park Avenue have enjoyed the regular FaceTime calls with their loved ones.
This donation will mean more of these valued calls can take place. The tablets are also used to tune into virtual entertainment sessions online, so people who are less mobile can be a part of from the comfort of where they are.
To thank the team for their kind donation, Gemma Weldon, Home Manager at Park Avenue, gave the volunteers a small goody bag containing sweets and a thank you card.
A big thank you goes out to Connectforce for this kind donation and all the supportive work you continue to do!
