Christine has been living at Hunters Down Care Home in Cambridge since 2016 and has inspired everyone with the love she and her Husband Brian still share.
Christine and Brian have been married for 66 years and it’s heartwarming to see their love is still as strong as it was in the early days of their relationship. They met at the youth centre in St Ives, where Christine was the secretary for the table tennis league. Brian played at the club, and after connecting over many shared interests, they got together, married and never looked back!
Before the pandemic, Brian would visit Christine every day. They could regularly be seen playing games on the iPad together, joining in with activities or watching sport on the TV.
But since visits to the home have been limited, Brian has found other ways to stay connected to his wife and keep their love alive. To do this, he comes along to the home everyday and delivers a hand-written letter for Christine, keeping her up to date with family news and what he has been up to.
In Brian’s most recent letter, he updated Christine on the sport and told her he will be speaking with her in the afternoon via Facetime. This delighted Christine and her face lit up with a big smile!
Christine’s family is very special to her. She and Brian have four Children together with eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Christine loves to hear about how they are getting on and looks forward to the day she can see them again.
Although the pandemic has introduced many challenges, Brian and Christine are not letting this get in the way of the love they share for each other.
Although Brian can’t visit her currently, she is comforted by these letters and the many wonderful pictures and family items she has in her room.
