On the 17th of June 2021, the team at Park Avenue Care Home helped to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society by hosting a cupcake day!.
This is an event the Alzheimer’s Society encourages fundraisers to host, as it’s a fun way to support the life-changing charity and those who donate, get a tasty treat to enjoy in return.
In preparation for the bake sale, the team members and close relatives of the home, Christine and Marion, helped to bake a variety of different cupcakes to sell on the day. This included fruit cakes, chocolate cakes and plain sponge cakes with buttercream icing to cater to all tastes. The home advertised the event on their Facebook page and on posters displayed outside the home to encourage people to stop by and purchase a cake to help raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
This is an important cause and one close to the hearts of those at Park Avenue, as they look after many people who live with dementia. With no current cure, it’s important to fundraise and help facilitate research into the syndrome some hopefully a cure can be found one day.
“Even though it rained on the day, it didn’t stop people passing by from stopping and buying some cupcakes to take home and have with a cup of tea.
“In total, we raised £210.50 which is fantastic- thank you for those that baked and donated”, said Gemma Weldon, Park Avenue’s Home Manager.
