With national cheese and wine tasting day coming up, the team at Winifred Dell Care Home in Essex wanted to make sure that the people living at the home were adequately prepared.
The team organised an afternoon taster session for the residents so they could sample some cheese and wine for themselves. There was such a vast variety of cheeses, including brie, double Gloucester, cream cheese, cheddar, camembert, and even some local selections. As well as the different cheeses, the session included various crackers and small amounts of wine to taste, which were all donated by the local community.
The people living at the home were very excited when they saw the setup and were very keen to taste the cheeses and wash each mouthful down with the wines on offer. Though there were many alcoholic and non-alcoholic wines to choose from, a few really stood out. There was a rather nice non-alcoholic Rosé from Spain, a sparkling White wine from the UK, and a lovely standout Red Wine from the Bordeaux region.
This was a really fun activity, and everybody had a great time putting their tastebuds to the test. Thanks to the success of the event, the home has already decided that they will definitely host similar again in the future.
