Team members and residents from two Excelcare homes in Cambridgeshire recently met up for a delightful day at Hunstanton beach!
Residents of Buchan House and Fitzwilliam House love spending time by the beach, taking in the views and the scent of the sea breeze, so the team organised to spend the day there together! Not only did this provide people with the opportunity to visit one of their favourite seaside towns, but also meet people living in a local Excelcare home. Trips like this help to build relationships between people from the same generation and can result in loving friendships being formed.
When the groups from both Buchan House and Fitzwilliam House arrived at Hunstanton Beach, they enjoyed greeting each other and introducing themselves. Some of the team members from both homes were already friends, so this gave them the opportunity to have a much-needed catch-up.
They took a short stroll along the front, taking in the views and chatting, before stopping for a classic fish and chip lunch! Not only does everyone love this British dish, but also the memories it brings back of summer days at the beach with their families and children. Lunch was topped with doughnuts and ice cream, which was a lovely way to end their seaside feast.
Residents and team members then enjoyed some more time together, before heading back home to have a well-deserved rest. “Thank you very much for taking us all to the seaside, it’s been a lovely day,” said Helenna and Ronnie said, “The fish and chips were delicious.”
Seeing the smiles on people's faces and hearing the positive things they had to say filled the team with joy. With friendships now forming between the two homes, more day trips will be planned together soon.
