The residents at Sweyne Court Care Home have been making the most of the recent warm weather to brighten up their garden space.
The residents already take good care of the garden and ensure the plants remain healthy, but they wanted to add some more colour to the outdoor space and make it a more inviting place to be. The team thought it was a great idea and sat with a group of residents to pick out the paint they wanted.
When the delivery arrived at the home this week, the residents were excited to pick up their brushes and add some colour to their outdoor space.
They started painting the large, brick plant sleepers first. It was great seeing them work together and while they were painting, memories about their own gardens were recalled and connected stories were shared. As they all share a passion for gardening, many of the residents had similar stories which helped to strengthen relationships at the home.
The garden is a popular place for residents to spend their time, especially in the summer. Activities, games, events and quiet reading sessions are all hosted here, so designing it how they want will hopefully encourage others to join in too.
It was a really productive day at Sweyne Court and the opportunity to get outside, especially during these times, really helped to boost wellbeing around the home.
The residents will continue decorating this space and planting fresh flowers until It's full and complete. They're also planning to grow some vegetables in time for summer, so we hope the weather hold-ups and allows for more, enjoyable, outdoor activities.
