Ashlyn Care Home are incredibly passionate about providing those who live there with the opportunity to express their creativity while socialising and maintaining strong contact with others. One way they have been exploring this is through the creative arts.
Over the last few weeks, residents from both floors of Ashlyn Care Home came together to create an ‘Autumn Leaf Mobile’. This was a great opportunity to work as a team and build stronger connections, with a beautiful final result.
This crafty creation was a result of a project from Creative Mojo. Creative Mojo are company that offer all-inclusive craft experiences for the elderly and specialise in working with people with dementia.
The objective of their workshops is to create fun, inclusive crafts with both individual residents and groups in mind. This was most certainly the case for the residents of Ashlyn, who were able to work on their individual leaves, but then combine them as a group to create a beautiful, seasonally appropriate decoration for all to enjoy.
The autumnal mobile was displayed in the lounge downstairs last week and has found its place in the upstairs lounge this week, allowing everybody to have the opportunity to admire their hard work.
The residents were very proud of their creation and are looking forward to the next one. Thank you so much to Claire from Creative Mojo for her interesting ideas!
