With NAPA Arts in Care Homes Day taking place in September, the team at Fitzwilliam House Care Home in Cambridge have been doing their best to tie all their arty activities to it.
On National Dot Day, Amy, the Lifestyle Coordinator at the home, encouraged everyone to create a picture or pattern on a circular piece of paper, using dots. The people living at the home found this so fun and were surprised with how simple yet effective this method of art was. Everyone was so proud of their final creations, and Amy made sure to cut each one out and frame them all together.
For National Colouring Day, Amy decided to theme their activity around the most colourful thing of all… Rainbows! Everyone began by colouring in some rainbows, and then came together to create an acrostic poem about rainbows. The group found the poetry session really fun, with some surprising themselves as they did not know they were so poetic! The final poem read:
Rain and sun shining to make a rainbow
A handful of gold at the end
Incredible natural creation
No flood, promise from God
Bright colours filling the sky
Over the rainbow of love
WOW! Such a beautiful sight
