This week, the residents and team members at Peartree Care Home in London, came together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Abimbola’s nursing career.
Abimbola is a Registered General Nurse who has worked at Peartree Care Home for over 20 years, so being a big cause for celebration, everyone gathered to ensure it was a day to remember.
Whilst speaking about her career, Abimbola shared some of her experiences during her time in the industry. She used to work in Nigeria as a Nurse but moved to the UK in the 1990s to further develop her skills.
When arriving in the UK, she studied at the Southbank University to complete her adaptation course and upon passing, secured a role at Peartree Care Home. She said “communication was key”, but things were a "little easier" for her as she could already speak English fluently.
On the day, Abimbola spoke fondly of the team members and residents that she had worked with over the years. She said, “I am very diligent and dedicated so I never feel tired when on duty, I love the residents and miss the ones who are no longer with us.”
This diligent attitude has certainly been recognised, as she has gained many awards for her work over the years, including employee of the month, outstanding RGN of the region as well as employee awards for her years of service. She said receiving these awards have helped to keep her motivated in her role to always put in 100%.
When asked about how she feels about her time at Peartree, Abimbola replied, “It has been almighty as they give staff many opportunities to update themselves and forward their careers. And also a lot of encouragement which enables the team to feel good and practice well in their jobs. I pray to be led and guided in my job in the future too so that I can maintain the passion I have. It is great to be a frontline worker, nurse and in a leading role in this industry as I consider myself fortunate to be in a position that has an everlasting impact in people’s lives. I will continue to work with Excelcare until I retire.”
We would like to congratulate Abimbola for her successful career and thank her for the dedication she has shown and continues to show to her fellow team members and the residents of Peartree.
Aditee Naik, the Home Manager at Peartree said, “We are very lucky to have Abimbola as part of our family. She has always stood strong with us in times in trouble and is an invaluable member of our team.”
