There was a beautiful celebration of love in the air at Stanley Wilson Lodge in Saffron Walden, as Margaret celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with her husband Ron.
Margaret lives at the home and is visited by her husband Ron on a regular basis. The two of them wanted to celebrate their 60 years of marriage in style, surrounded by all their family and friends, so they asked if they could use one of the lounges at Stanley Wilson Lodge for the party.
Margaret and Ron were initially brought together at a drama group, where they bonded over their mutual love of singing. Less than a year later they were married, and have since gone on to have a son, a daughter and six grandchildren. Singing has always been a big part of their lives. Ron was a choir boy from the age of eight to 78, and Margaret sang operetta for 40 years. She is known for singing loudly at the monthly Church services at the home, and everyone loves to hear her beautiful voice!
The party was organised by their loving daughter, who sent out invitations and brought food and drinks for the occasion, assisted by two members of the Stanley Wilson Lodge team. Ron, Margaret and their guests tucked into a lovely cake and enjoyed a glass of their favourite tipple – red wine! Music was provided by the team, who ensured to include the Anniversary Waltz and ‘Da Doo Ron Ron’, of course.
During the party a team member asked Margaret what she thought the secret was to a long and happy marriage. She replied that you need a sense of humour, and that you should know someone well before you fall in love with them. “Ron is very caring and surrounds me with love”, said Margaret, “even if he does drive me mad occasionally!”
Margaret had an absolutely wonderful day and said that the best part was sharing it with her family and friends.
