Our welcoming and friendly, newly refurbished home, is situated in the heart of Peckham, giving easy access to a number of local shops and public transport.
We provide a range of respite care and long-term residential care, residential dementia care, nursing care, dementia nursing care and end of life care which has been accredited to Beacon Status with the Gold Standards Framework.
Our warm and gentle team members, many of whom live in the surrounding areas, deliver care with kindness, ensuring the special individuals who live here, along with the people who are most important in their lives, are actively involved in home life.
We support a culture of openness and transparency where each individual is treated with dignity, respect and supported to lead a high quality of life.
Our dedicated team members, carefully chosen for their kind and caring nature, support residents to maintain their independence as much as possible, whilst leading happy and fulfilling lives.
Working in partnership with the residents and those closest to them, we spend time forming close bonds with the people we care for, ensuring we understand not only their support needs but also their likes, dislikes and personal preferences.
This enables us to create person-centred care plans, which are focused on a holistic view of each individual and provide a range of opportunities for people to enjoy their days doing the things they love.
Celebrations are an important part of life at Queens Oak, where birthdays and special family occasions are marked with a beautiful home-baked cake and everyone comes together to celebrate with live entertainment.
Ultimately, resident wellbeing and happiness is always at the forefront of life here and so we encourage individuals, their family and friends to play an active part in the home through regular resident and relative meetings as well as welcoming visitors at any time.
Queens Oak, which has recently been refurbished, retains its beautiful character and warmth with a range of communal areas where people can enjoy the company of fellow residents and visitors as well as quieter areas to sit back and relax.
Our bright and airy, recently refurbished lounges are the perfect place to spend time with friends, participating in an activity or catching up on a favourite TV programme, whilst our shop with small seating area enables residents to maintain their independence.
In our welcoming dining rooms, which have also recently been renovated, residents join each other during mealtimes to enjoy our beautiful homecooked meals which are lovingly prepared daily by our catering team. Our seasonal menus are based on residents’ likes and dislikes so feature popular favourites, along with new things to try. We cater for dietary and cultural requirements and individuals are more than welcome to eat in their own bedroom if they would prefer a quieter setting.
All of our spacious bedrooms are en-suite to support dignity and many of them overlook our beautiful gardens. Residents are encouraged to personalise their room with photographs, ornaments, treasured belongings and small items of furniture, if they wish, to help create a welcoming and familiar space.
Within our residential dementia care suite, we encourage meaningful engagement with specially designed areas such as our themed corridors. This helps to prompt reminiscence and memories as well as the carefully placed rummage boxes which promote tactile interaction.
We appreciate and embrace everyone’s likes and dislikes, offering a full range of activities and events which enable residents to continue doing the things they love, whilst also creating opportunities to try something new.
Our group activities include relaxing pamper sessions and lively quizzes, creative arts & crafts and baking, as well as light exercise sessions to music which help to maintain movement and health.
We also host movie afternoons, complete with popcorn, coffee clubs and church services as well as welcoming visitors to perform for the residents, whilst encouraging them to take part in group music activities.
For our green-fingered residents, we have a large landscaped garden full of beautiful flowers and an abundance of vegetables in our vegetable patch to tend to, which we then use in our fresh home-cooking.
Those people who prefer more intimate and quieter activities can take part in our range of 1-2-1 sessions which enable team members to spend quality time with the residents individually.
Alongside our usual group and 1-2-1 activities, our Sonas programme is particularly effective for residents living with dementia. Based on stimulating all five senses, the sessions support wellbeing and communication through gentle exercise, relaxing music, singalongs and memory-focused exercises.
Through focussing on people’s retained skills and abilities, rather than the things that may be inaccessible, this approach creates a safe and supportive environment where individuals are able to relax, enjoy and engage with others.
