Bright and cheery, Primrose Croft lies in a quiet, residential area on the north bank of the River Cam in Cambridge, a few minutes’ walk from local shops and other amenities, and a short bus ride into the city centre.
Known for our warm and welcoming atmosphere, our care home provides respite and long-term residential, residential dementia and end of life care.
Dedicated to ensuring individuals live happy and comfortable lives, our team members, who live in Chesterton, Arbury, Cherry Hinton and nearby areas, form genuine bonds with residents and those closest to them.
These relationships, coupled with our small, friendly home environment, enable us to create a place where residents feel safe, happy and supported to lead the life they want to.
Our cheerful and happy care home is situated on a quiet, residential side road, within easy walking distance of the River Cam. Primrose Croft is a welcoming, intimate space in which the people who live here are supported to live a fulfilling, fun life.
Situated on two floors, with two care suites and 38 bedrooms, the small scale of Primrose Croft means that all of our team and residents get to know each other really well, with an approach that is born from being a family-run home. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own treasured belongings – bringing with them photographs, ornaments and small items of furniture, if they wish.
Our spacious lounges enable people to socialise and build new friendships, while quiet rooms make ideal areas to relax with friends or family, or just enjoy a snooze. The sensory room combines gentle light, movement, music and tactile objects designed to either calm or stimulate residents, promoting wellbeing and contentment.
Our brilliant Lifestyle Coordinator has opened a nostalgic sweet shop at Primrose Croft, a magical place where residents can pick and choose old and new favourites – and reconnect with childhood memories. Many of the people living here choose to enjoy their selections in the gazebo in our large garden, which is perfect for enjoying sunny days and summer evenings. Many residents of Primrose Croft enjoy putting their green fingers to good use through tending to the flowers and plants.
Our Lifestyle Coordinator supports every resident to feel truly special and helps to make Primrose Croft a lively and enjoyable place to be. Every day there are events, activities and hobbies that residents can participate in, all based on their likes and dislikes as well as new things they might want to try.
From board game afternoons to arts and crafts sessions, to attending Luncheon Club trips to local venues where we enjoy delightful meals together, there's always something to enjoy.
We also promote good health and gentle exercise, with sociable Music for Health sessions that get residents energised with a fun range of exercises. The less mobile can take part too in chair-based routines, making the experience an inclusive one for all.
On top of making our own fun, we bring entertainers into Primrose Court for fantastic sing-a-longs, concerts and shows, a real highlight of every week. And come rain or shine, we love taking regular outings to local attractions, whether tea dances at the Guildhall or a gentle walk into the countryside and afternoon tea.
Mealtimes are highly important to us, as they are when everyone comes together in our two dining rooms to enjoy gorgeous food, freshly prepared by our wonderful catering team. Our chefs not only cater for different dietary needs and cultural backgrounds, but also take requests from residents, so mealtimes are filled with favourites. On birthdays and special occasions, our team bake a celebratory cake that is always enjoyed by all.
At Primrose Croft, we have created a home for people to live with dignity, tranquillity and joy. Everything from our environment to our calendar of activities have been shaped to provide positive experiences for residents whilst reinforcing our approach to compassionate care.
We understand that it’s the small things that often make a big difference to the quality of life of the people who live here, so our team spend quality time getting to really know and understand them and their loved ones, building a picture of an individual’s health, social and wellbeing needs. This detailed knowledge then enables us to provide person-centred care which is tailored to each individual’s likes, dislikes and preferences.
We pride ourselves on our compassionate and sensitive approach to individual care: for residents and for their families. We believe it’s this approach, along with our dedication to the special people who live with us, that makes Primrose Croft a true home from home.
