Essex Regional Team
Wendy McDonough – Regional Director
Wendy was appointed as Regional Manager for Essex in 2011 after a successful career in management within the care industry. Wendy is an experienced qualified nurse with a BSC in Nursing. During her career Wendy has worked in a variety of settings at senior level within the NHS and private sector and specialises in care of the elderly, dementia care, learning disabilities, young physically disabled and mental health. Wendy has led in commissioning and decommissioning services within the NHS and private sector and has managed both Nursing and Residential homes prior to holding regional manager, area manager and regional director’s positions within medium and large care provider companies.
Sheela Nirmal – Head of Care
Sheela is a highly qualified nurse with a strong track record looking after people in hospital and nursing homes with brain injuries and complex care needs as well as dementia-related illnesses. Sheela has strong clinical skills developed through 32 years of nursing experience (RGN and RMN) including nurse training, aspects of management (RMA) and supervisory skills. Sheela has made a conscious decision to focus on the needs of older people living in community-based nursing homes. Sheela has strong management skills & has managed up to 92 bedded nursing homes. Sheela joins Excel care as head of care south Essex region from a Peripatetic project manager role specializing in elderly and dementia care.
Lesley Pitt – Regional Coordinator
Lesley was appointed Regional Coordinator for Essex region in September 2010. After working in the insurance industry for over 20 years in various roles including credit control and HR. Lesley’s experience has led to her appointment as Chairperson of the UFI board, which is the company body representing staff. Lesley has a Business and Administration Diploma Level three.
