Peartree resident Mr. Charles William Dyason recently celebrated his 100th birthday with a party attended by The Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock. William was born in Burn Street in Kennington, London on November 11th 1910. He grew up in around Kennington and Lambeth and later lived in Thornton Heath and Bognor Regis before moving in with his daughter Joan and son-in-law Ray and then to Peartree where he has now made his home. William is much loved by staff and residents who enjoy hearing his stories about life in the Army where he was an anti-aircraft sheller, firing shells to bring down enemy aircrafts and working in the fields in England. During his working life pre and post war, William worked for the Sun Engraving Company as a messenger boy, leaving as an assistant to the Managing Director in 1974. His hobbies are reading, watching TV and stamp collecting. Many happy returns William!
