ROSCO IS GUEST OF HONOUR AT LONGFIELD HARVEST FESTIVAL
Staff and residents from Excelcare’s Longfield Care Centre in Maldon, Essex welcomed a very special visitor to their Harvest Festival celebrations this week. Rosco the 24-year-old grey shire – all 18.2 hands high and one ton of him – acted like a true gentleman as staff and residents, led by Canon Steven Carter, shared hymns and prayers and then tucked into a traditional Harvest Festival meal of chicken broth with a selection of freshly baked bread, followed by apple and blackberry pie and a glass of scrumpy – all lovingly made by Longfield Chef Anna. Rosco, on the other hand, was happy to take in the Autumn sunshine with a bag of Polo mints. Visiting Longfield is a far cry from Roscos’ previous existence delivering beer in London, pulling the Lord Mayor’s Coach and appearing on TV showing off his ploughing skills. Owner Keith Williams says: ‘Rosco really enjoys these functions and always knows
when he is going out as he has to have a bath and loves all the attention!’
