Sherrell House’s Cultural Awareness Open Day

Care home staff brightened up the lives of Chigwell residents on the 30th October during a cultural awareness day.

Staff at Sherrell House Care Centre in Fencepiece Road, Chigwell, donned some of their finest outfits as they performed in a fashion and cultural show.

Employees from different backgrounds, ranging from Asia to Africa to the Caribbean, graced the stage, while residents also enjoyed dance and poetry from Nepal and St Vincent and The Grenadines.

The eventful day was capped off with food from the different nations.

Proceeds from the event will go towards resident outings next summer.

Cambridge Home Competes for Top Prize

Cambridge Care Home is competing for top prize at prestigous awards ceremony

A 33-bed residental home for the elderly has been shortlisted as one of the five best care homes in the UK by the Caring Times National Care Awards.

Brook House, in Seymour Street, Cambridge, which is part of the Excelcare Group, will be represented at a gala evening at London’s Hilton Metropole Hotel on November 29th, when winners will be announced by host Phil Tufnell.

Excelcare aim to raise £5,000 for CLIC Sargent

Excelcare are on a mission to raise £5,000 to present to the Charity at the Excelcare Award’s Party on the 5th July 2013

Every day, 10 children and young people in the UK hear the shocking news they have cancer. CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer Charity for children and young people, and their families, providing clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life.

Excelcare’s Bromley Head Office Staff raise monies for Comic Relief !!

Excelcare Bromley staff at Ertosun House rallied to the call on Red Nose Day on Friday 15th March by responding with enthusiasm and generosity to raise funds to promote the cause of fighting poverty in the UK and Africa.

A dress down day with the one off opportunity to sport the iconic red nose for the day and temporarily transform their identities, successfully raised £220, which was then added to by Osman Ertosun, Director, to bring the total office contribution to a welcome £440!

Fund Raiser Sam Manning said “she appreciated her colleagues ready response to help Comic Relief”.

Excelcare and Guildmore raise monies for Great Ormond Street

Excelcare and Guildmore held a special raffle and auction to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Osman Ertosun, CEO of Excelcare said GOSH really do fantastic work in caring and treating the Children; they also give exceptional support to the families at such a difficult time; we hope our donation helps the hospital in the work they do.

The Chairman of Excelcare Raises £1,350 for Local Hospice

Excelcare’s Chairman Ozzie Ertosun aged 45, raised £1,350 for St Christopher’s Hospice at the weekend by completing a challenge that required him to sign a Death Warrant.

On Sunday 27th January, Ozzie and some of his friends took part in the event “TOUGH GUY” its the ultimate challenge offering brain freeze like you have never experienced before. Ozzie had to go through fire, ice and mud to survive the challenge!

Excelcare provide care and support to around 2,000 people across 35 Care Homes and through Domicilary Care; it takes a special person to work in the Care Industry and the team at Excelcare think their Boss is very special and are all very proud of him for completing the challenge on Sunday and in-turn raise money for a worthy Charity that provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality.

Ozzie said “he has never experienced something so mentally and physically challenging as he did on Sunday”; at one point Ozzie got slightly disorientated that he went through the electric shock part of the course twice !

Ozzie exhausted and walking like John Wayne said that “he was thrilled to have completed the challenge and raise money for St Christopher’s Hospice”.

Carers & Residents at Etheldred House raise £2,000 for Children’s Charity

Carers and Residents raise £2,000 for Cancer Charity

ENERGETIC staff and residents at Etheldred House have raised £2,000 for a Children’s Charity. Carers at Etheldred House in Clay Street, Histon took part in a sponsored cycle, run and walk in one day for CLIC Sargent, which provides support and information for children and young peole with cancer and their families.

Some residents also joined in the sponsored walk, while one member of staff had their hair shaved to boost the funds raised.

A cheque for £1,850 has already been handed to the Charity, but the money is still coming in and the total collected now stands at £1,971.

Jennilyne Bacasen, one of the organisers of the event on September 8th, said: “We hold a fundraiser every year but this is the first time we have chosen CLIC Sargent.”

“We asked the staff to come up with ideas and the cyclists and runners decided to carry out sponsored events”.

“Residents also enjoyed the walk and have said they look forward to taking part in future events”.
