Winifred Dell

Winifred Dell is a superb 76-bed modern, purpose-built Care Home, constructed on the site of the previous Winifred Dell House. The new Care Home was officially opened by the The Mayor of Brentwood in July 2012.

Winifred Dell Care Centre is registered for Residential and Dementia Care.

Winifred Dell Care Centre is a friendly and relaxed place for elderly people to live.

We encourage residents and visiting families and friends to be fully involved in the day-to-day life of the home including our activities. All our visitors are welcome to join residents for meals, when possible. We are very proud of our 5 star-rated kitchen, where our Catering Team create menus to suit individual diets and tastes. Above all, we believe in a flexible person-centred approach.

Our large, enclosed garden areas provide a variety of outside space and are fully accessible for wheelchairs. The communal gardens have been designed to provide sensory stimulation and a safe haven for quiet times. Raised planters enable residents to be involved in planting and garden projects. Catering and Laundry facilities are created to provide excellent services for residents, as well as a safe and pleasant working environment for staff.

“My husband will have been in Winifred Dell for 3 years this September and I can honestly say it’s been such a weight off my shoulders knowing how happy he is. Everyone I come into contact with is very nice from the reception to laundry, cleaners and carers – not forgetting the kitchen staff! I couldn’t be more pleased.”

“I just wanted to say how kind and caring we have found every member of staff.. In such a short while it feels like a second home, and as a family, we have felt welcomed and known.
“The staff go above and beyond their duty to residents, knowing every personal detail to make everything seem normal. It is a very distressing time for relatives when a loved one goes into a residential setting and there is lots of guilt, confusion and anxiety, but to be so completely made to feel normal is such a relief and comfort, and to know that we are welcome at any time (and im quite sure we are a nuisance at times) is reassuring. There is nothing negative to say, the food is also excellent. “

“Thank you so much for organising such a wonderful celebration last Tuesday for []’s 100th Birthday. It was a fantastic afternoon and such a happy place to be. As for the balloon launch – well the responses were astounding and very moving”

“Thank you all so much for giving Mum such a splendid and memorable 100th birthday party last week. You all must have worked so hard to provide an amazing afternoon for her, relatives and friends! All your efforts were very much appreciated by everyone who came along.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks and gratitude to Excelcare for employing [] activities co-ordinator at Winifred dell care home.
She has brought a new lease of life to both residents and her colleagues with her imagination, enthusiasm, motivation and dedication to her job role.
[She] takes time and care to know each resident on each floor and arranges activities and sessions to meet the needs of individual residents as well as integrate the residents…”

“I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to [] –Senior Carer on [] unit for the care and support she has shown both my mother and myself since she joined Winifred Dell in January 2014.
“[] is always friendly, approachable and professional with both residents and family members. Ready to answer any questions, concerns or queries. If an item has been misplaced, [] will do her upmost to locate or replace it instantly where possible.
“[] is always on hand to give out follow-up information with regards to medicine, care needs and GP visits.

“Having looked around 10 residential homes in total, I have not been disappointed in my choice of Winifred Dell. I know my mother is in the right place. I have observed the way staff speak and respond to residents and they are always kind, professional and caring – making eye contact and reassuring in their response. A huge thank you to all the staff at Winifred Dell”

“I’ve much appreciated your care and kindness to my husband during his illness. It was nice to know that someone was going in to say hello and chat, he loved that”
