At Ashlyn, we have our own Activities Coordinator who takes the time to discuss hobbies and interests with residents and relatives. She devises individual activity programmes as well as group activities to suit individual needs. A full programme of events is displayed clearly in each unit. Activities include:

“In these days of negative press about care of the elderly I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Ashlyn Care Home. In the three and a half years that my father was a resident he received the most amazing love, care, dignity and respect. In all the time I spent at Ashlyn I have always observed the residents to be treated with the same love and care. I will always be grateful; that my father chose Ashlyn for his home.
“It is not an understatement to say that Ashlyn gave my dad three and a half years of the most amazing quality of life. They understood him fully and never failed to provide the love, care, respect and dignity that made him a proud man once again.
“In these days where residential care (or the lack of it) attracts negative media attention Ashlyn stands out as a beacon of excellence. Every single member of staff has shown us all love, care, dignity, compassion and support. I really can’t find the words to praise them all highly enough and they are a real credit to the larger Excel Care team.
“Even since dad’s death and funeral I have been welcomed into Ashlyn as a friend; I believe I always will. One member of staff summed up the ethos that makes Ashlyn stand out: ‘the residents don’t live where we work; we work in their home’. At Ashlyn these aren’t just words. From the bottom of my heart thank you for Ashlyn and its people.”
“Over the past couple of months I have had the pleasure of visiting a sweet lady in her 90’s in Ashlyns Care Home.
“I would just like to say everyone looks so well cared for. It was meal time when I visited and what a treat to see residents being served such lovely food. Staff were very friendly and the cleanliness was excellent. It seems a wonderful place to spend your twilight years being cared for and loved.”
JW, Hadley Grange, Harlow
“I think it is a bright and cheerful home. I can only thank you for my Mum’s stay as her health has picked up during her respite stay and I have had a worry free holiday.”
“You all did a fantastic job caring for our Mum- she loved you for that and we did too.”
“Thank you for the care and kindness shown to our Mum during her respite stay. She has been very happy and you have all been understanding and so nice.”
“I have lived at Ashlyn for over two years now and am very happy. Staff are caring and nothing is too much trouble.”
“Our family would like to thank all the staff at Ashlyn’s for their outstanding care and support over the last two years”
“My thanks to the staff for all their help and assistance. I always receive full assistance, quality of service and care at Ashlyn’s”.
“Our thanks for the care and kindness you gave me, I couldn’t have asked for more. I wasn’t special, but your staff made me feel so. I can truly say that we were all treated the same way and your staff made us happy”.
“Ashlyn is a very tidy place, very clean and smells lovely”
“I have been attending Ashlyn’s in my capacity as Eucharistic Minister for the past four years. The staff work very hard, keeping the home very clean, and are very caring to the residents. I am sure all the relatives are happy that their loved ones are so well looked after. Well done everyone”
Member of the community
“We would like to say a huge thank you for all of the care and compassion that you showed our Mum during the short time she lived with you. Your kindness, compassion, support and understanding in her final days meant so much to all of us. You were all so caring. We know Mum was happy with you and we could not have wished for a lovelier place. Thank you”.
