St George’s Court is a light, modern care home located a couple of miles south of Cambridge city centre and just a few minutes’ walk from Cambridge Botanic Garden. We are very much part of our local community, with staff who live nearby in Comberton, Chesterton and Fulbourn, and a busy programme of events that sees regular visits from our neighbours, including local schools and community groups.

Here at St George’s we are dedicated to giving freedom of choice to all and to creating a warm, relaxed and stimulating environment that makes lives more joyful and fulfilling every single day. As a family-run care home we treat everyone as we’d like our own family members to be treated; with compassion and kindness, we offer a range of expert respite care and long-term residential care, residential dementia care, nursing care and end of life care, tailored to each and every resident’s individual needs and requirements.

“My mother has had an amazing standard of care. It is an agonising decision to place a relative in a care home, but we found St George’s the most cosy and homely. I can visit any time I like, day or night, and always see the same standard of care.”

“Mum is very content with the care and attention she receives and conveys those thoughts to us regularly. She receives frequent and considerate and sympathetic attention and there are always events and things of interest for her. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is always clean, neat and tidy.”

Relative of Resident

“We are deeply grateful for the loving attentive care given to my mum at St George’s. She enjoyed taking part in activities and we were able to go on several different trips together. Staff were always incredibly supportive and encouraging, for which I am really thankful. Thank you so much for everything you did to give my mum the best possible quality of life as she journeyed through Alzheimer’s.”

Relative of Resident

“Our mother was very happy at St George’s Court. Staff were always friendly and caring and Mum enjoyed the lively entertainment and outings. When she celebrated her 100th birthday management and staff all wished her well with a party and lovely cake made by the chef. Mum was treated with kindness and respect in the last days of her life and that was extended to us as a family."

Relative of Resident

“Recommendations from our friends meant we had St George’s in mind when my wife was found to be in need of dementia care. First impressions were good and we have had absolutely no reason to change our minds. St George’s Court would almost certainly be rated as among the top 10 care homes in the UK.”

Designed for living

Excelcare-St-Georges-Court-Care-Home-P1.jpgSt George’s Court is warm and welcoming care home designed to encourage freedom of choice and independence, within a safe environment.

Arranged over three storeys, the home has a lift and wide corridors, supporting easy access for everyone and enabling residents to choose how they use the variety of communal spaces we have.

Our 77 bedrooms, the majority of which have en-suite facilities, are spacious and tastefully decorated and residents are encouraged to make them their own with precious photographs, ornaments and small items of furniture if they wish.

Our homely lounges provide the perfect place to socialise with fellow residents, whilst our quiet areas, indoor sensory room and relatives’ room are cosy places to rest and relax or chat to loved ones and visitors.

As our mealtimes are one of the highlights of the day, our light and airy dining rooms are popular places, where everyone comes together to enjoy the home-cooked meals, lovingly prepared by our catering team. With fresh, nutritional options on the menu every day, which also cater for dietary needs and cultural preferences, residents can choose from a range of favourites as well as enjoying tasty birthday cakes – carefully baked to mark residents’ special days.

Our lovely gardens are a favourite spot when the sun comes out. The patio area is bordered by lawn and raised planters with colourful displays of flowers, making a pleasant place to relax, chat or sit back and watch the birds on the feeders.

Making every day count

Excelcare-St-Georges-Court-Care-Home-P2.jpgWe are passionate about creating a home where residents live life to the full, so our range of activities and events are a huge part of our days at St George’s Court.

Working in partnership with the people who live here, and those closest to them, our Lifestyle Coordinator plans a variety of interesting activities and events which support people to continue with existing hobbies, as well as give them opportunities to try new things too.

Whether it's creative arts and crafts sessions, cooking afternoons, where residents invariably end up teaching our team a thing or two, gardening club for those who enjoy spending time outdoors, or uplifting sing-a-longs with live entertainers and movement to music, which boosts mood and mobility, there’s always something going on.

We also look forward to our regular visits from local school children, where residents spend time with pupils, chatting and taking part in activities together, as well as our community events where members of the public come along to join in the fun.

Our local walks and regular outings into Cambridge, Ely and other areas of interest dot our calendar throughout the year too and support people to remain active members of their local community.
